To look ahead to 2040, Nordanstig Municipality chose to invite its residents to an inclusive citizen dialogue. With the help of Vocean, an open, transparent and engaging forum was created where both old and new ideas were given space.

The Challenge
When the previous municipal vision was developed in 2009, only physical dialogues were conducted, a good but resource-intensive approach, and when the municipality faced a new vision process in 2025, they wanted to digitalize.Nordanstig Municipality faced the task of forming a long-term vision: "What will Nordanstig look like in 2040?" To get a broad picture of the future Nordanstig anchored, the municipality wanted to reach out to both residents and people connected to the area – from returnees to summer visitors. One goal was to create clarity about how the population wanted to see Nordanstig for future generations.

The Solution
With the Vocean platform, Nordanstig could open up a digital dialogue where participation was completely open – whether you lived in the municipality or just felt strongly about the place. Communication took place via the municipality's website, social media, local news, and physical posters with QR codes in public places. Residents could submit as many suggestions as they wanted, whenever they wanted. This created a living and ongoing dialogue rather than a one-time effort.
